Spring clean your skin

With spring weather quickly approaching, it’s time to face that dreaded annual activity: spring cleaning your skin, follow theses steps:

  • Tip 1: Get a facial-it a good way to thorough clean the pores, soften and remove dry dead skin cells and will restore a radiant glow.

  • 2: Exfoliate -we've all had heavy creams to moisture our faces all winter long, but it’s time to get the excess out of your pores.

  • 3.Going from winter to spring, ur skin is a lot drier due to the lack of moisture. Treat yourself to a light peel or microdermabrasion,

  • 4. Spring clean your product cupboard, by tossing all the expired products and replace them with what you need, ask you therapist for advices

  • 5: Its time to abandon the heavy moisturizer and maybe even your gel cleanser, and switch to something lighter for the spring.

  • 6.Protect -It might be tempting to bask in the glow of the sun but it's crucial to protect yourself from the sun’s damaging rays

  • 7.Your skin craves good nutrition just like the rest of your body, so a good cleansing routine is important

  • 9. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains for healthy skin.

  • 10. Exercise every day. Exercising helps your skin by increasing blood flow. And sweating flushes out dirt from your skin.

  • 11. Stay out of the sun. Get a fake tan if you want more color.

  • 14. Give your face a little more TLC - with home made masks -http://bodytiquetherapistthruths.blogspot.com/

  • 15. Don’t neglect your body during the transition as well - Enjoy a much needed mani and pedi at your salon.

  • 16. Don't forget to exfoliate the body to with a body scrub to make you feel like a whole new woman and get your skin glowing.

  • 17. Rehydrate your body skin by soaking in a warm bath of water to 2 tbsp of milk powder. Its the ultimate skin softener

    Identifying your skin type

    Identifying your skin type

Knowing what skin type you are can be confusing and frustrating when trying to get a good skin care routine going. There are five basic skin types, namely :

    • Oily/ problem skin
    •
    • Dry / Sensitive skin

    • Combination skin
    •
    • Normal skin

    • environmentally damaged skin
But which one are you ? Well here are some tips to help you analysis your skin into a type. The first step in pinning down your skin type is to get hold of a magnifying mirror to see whats really happening with your skin. Now brace yourself, because in most cases, this is not a pretty sight. A magnifying mirror highlights every blackhead, whitehead, pimple, crater and wrinkle. But if its any consolation, most peoples skins don’t pass the magnifying mirror test with flying colours.
There's a simple test to help you narrow down your skin type. The tissue test ,check on the glandular activity of your skin. As complicated as that sounds, its actually a simple procedure that just requires a paper tissue.
    1. Press the paper tissue to your nose and forehead for a few seconds. Do not rub it over the surface of your skin.
    2. .   Then remove the tissue and examine it.

    • If your glands are working overtime, the tissue will have greasy marks on it. (oily /problem skin)

    2.   If the tissue is spotless, don’t get too excited. Its not a good sign. It means that your skin lacks

    • lubrication. (dry /sensitive skin)
    • If the tissue is hardly soiled, you are one of the lucky ones with perfect skin.(normal skin)

    3.   Here a basic break down of each skin type:

    • oily skin - Skin shines easily and looks dull. Might have a few pimples

    4.   Problem skin - Open pores and lots of pimples

    •  and normally your skin looks angry
    • Dry skin- Feel tight and very dry and reacts to temperature changes

    5.   Sensitive skin- Easily becomes red and irritated.

    •  Reacts to just about anything
    • Normal skin -smooth perfect skin ,that everyone strives to achive.

    6.   Environmentally damaged skin- skin that has premature aging (wrinkles ,fine lines  etc) and pigmentation

    7.   Combination skin- Can be a combination of any of the above skin types. For example oily/dry skin is a skin that can have a oily forehead/nose/chin (t-panel) and the cheeks are dry.

    8.   Each skin type is treated in a different way with different products ,and that why its so important to know your skin type and how to treat it . Thus one can control and improve there skin and appearances.

Acne lesions arise through pilosebaceous units, which are made of sebaceous glands and hair follicles in the middle layer of skin called the dermis. Difference between the CACI & a radio frequency treatment

Currently on the market today there are two different types of treatments for anti ageing. At Bodytique , we offer CACI micro current but before I inform you about CACI let’s see what the differences is between a micro current or radio frequency is :
What is caci ? A CACI therapist uses hand-held wands to transmit micro currents through your skin and facial muscles. A CACI non surgical face lift is an electronic beauty treatment using a CACI machine. CACI face lift treatments lift the face by toning facial muscles, smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles and preventing sagging skin. When you go to the gym, you work your muscles to give yourself a better body shape, so why not work out your face and keep that in better shape too. Does CACI Work? There is clinical evidence CACI works. A study at the University of Washington showed micro currents can increase elastin by 45%, collagen by 10% and the number of blood vessels by 35%. Elastin and collagen are what keep your skin plump and firm, and good blood flow will give you a glow. The facial is split up into sections that work on different areas of the face, each of these sections has different movements to simulate different muscles, working to lift, exercise and help the complexion of your skin. Although CACI results are instant, the facials are are usually taken as part of a course, with the intensity being increased with the number of treatments.  Gliding section - this section is designed to lift the muscles up from the base to give your face a lift. This is done with the wands by gliding the wand along the muscle and holding it up for a few seconds whilst the micro current does it's work.  ETR (Enhanced Tissue Repair) - this section is to help the deeper lines and creases of the skin. We work closely on the areas that you really want to help and are in more need.  Quick - this section gives the muscle a work out, just like going to the gym, it firms up and strengthens the muscles.  Feathering - this section is to help your complexion, by changing PH balance, using the wands to drive in moisture deep into the skin helping the collagen and the elastin in the skin. This keeps the skin topped up with the essential vitamins and moisture it needs to keep looking younger. Celeribity quotes: “The Peter Pan of Pop has CACI no-knife facelift” – Singer Cliff Richard “I feel so good – and everyone says I look good, too. Some of my friends thought I’d had a facelift” – Actress Barbara Windsor “If you have a party to look perky for… try a course of CACI facials to plump skin and diminish fine lines” – Actress Martine McCutcheon

You’ve taken down your holiday decorations, but your home isn’t the only thing experiencing a New Year’s makeover.  That’s right, it’s time to spring into the New Year with a new pamper routine.

Bodytique, has created some packages to help you look and feel great from month to month at a reasonable rate. Oh yes if the packages don’t suite your needs Shaz will customize a package to suite your needs.

    Bodytique goals for 2013:

    ·         To focus on the holistic you (mind, body and soul) in every treatment.

    ·         To help maintain, improve and make you feel better about yourself.

    Detoxing your skin

After the festive season our skin takes a little bit of a betting, and yes it’s true that your skin, says much more about you than just how beautiful you are. Clear, radiant skin can be a sign of healthiness and a toxin-free body.
So I came up with 4 easy and not too costly skin-detox tips to help detox your skin. It is not a one-time thing, but instead we should adopt these tips as part of our habits. One should notice an improvement in your skin, just a week.
    1.      Flush Out the Toxins

Water is the key to detoxifying, and without enough water to help the body flush out the wastes, the body is basically like a pool of poisons, resulting in many kinds of skin problems. On should have 6 – 8 glasses of water a day.

    2.      Start Your Day with an Antioxidant Drink
A drink? Antioxidants are the knights in shining armour that defeat the attack of free radicals in the body, the harmful molecules that damage cells and procure aging and disease. Though antioxidants are produced naturally in the body, and decline with age, hence there is an increasing need to acquire them from the foods in our diet.
Thus are highly beneficial to the skin, as they help protect the skin from environmental damage and prevent premature aging. So have a berry drink either in morning or evening – berry drinks to have are:

Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, pears, cherries, pomegranates and plums.

     Berry juices

1.Put a cup of orange juice, 4 or more ice cubes into a blender. Add ripe or frozen berries of your choices.

2.Cover tightly and blend until fully blended. Check it after a few seconds. The consistency should be thick.

3.Pour into tall glasses, garnish with a whole berry floating on top,or for color.

4.Add a straw, whipped cream, and serve. But if you would like a healthier or simpler one don't use whip cream.

    3. Sweat it out

Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day, the main idea is to increase your blood circulation, relax your muscles and most importantly, get rid of excess toxins through sweating.

    4. Detoxifying Bath

Have a detox bath once a week to eliminate toxins and pamper your skin. Just add the following to warm bath water: ½ cup baking soda (to help neutralize the acids in the toxins).

    5. Detox facial mask

Your complexion needs the same attention as your body when it comes to toxins, by doing a mask every once in a while will help flush out the harmful agents from your pores with the help of these natural and soothing treatments.

First of all, cleanse your skin gently to prepare your pores for detoxification.
    Banana Detox Facial
    ·         Free your pores from the oil and dirty excess
    Method:
    ·         Mash a banana and mix it with 1 tsp of honey.
Apply the facial on your skin and make sure you leave out the area around the eyes. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes and finally rinse it off with lukewarm water.
    Parsley Detox Facial
    ·         Use this herb to create a cleansing treatment for your pores and help you flush out the toxins from the deeper skin layers

    Method:
    ·         Use the natural ingredient and chopped parsley (1tsp) into a cup of boiling water. Cover the bowl for 15 minutes, then strain the parsley.
    ·         Let the herbs cool down.

Apply the facial on your skin and make sure you leave out the area around the eyes. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes and finally rinse it off with lukewarm water.

    Importance of diabetic foot care

Foot care amongst diabetics is incredibly important, due to the fact that even small ulcers on the foot can represent a serious risk: they may heal extremely slowly and need rigorous treatment to cure. Ulcers can develop into serious lower body infections.

Due to diabetics your nervous system is even slightly damaged, the extremities of the body can become numb. For this reason, you may not be able to feel foot problems until they have developed. So It is key to ensure you have regular foot examinations.

Your therapist will keep accurate records of your feet thus being able to detect problems that arise. As well as will do test to monitor the following:

    ·         Testing the feeling in your feet

    ·         Testing for hot and cold sensations

    ·         Testing for blood circulation

Not only does our diabetic foot care treatment include examinations, foot treatment care (pedicure) but also reflexology treatment. Reflexology will not cure diabetes it will however, help with the symptoms and improve blood glucose levels.

Bodytique offers diabetic foot care treatment for R 200.00 or Diabetic care monthly program ( full body massage, pedicure and reflexology) R500.00 per month.
