HOW TO KEEP YOUR SKIN LOOKING GREAT

HOW TO KEEP YOUR SKIN LOOKING GREAT

Everyone won’t younger healthy skin, but there are a number of factors that determine this. They included genetic factors, environment, sunlight expose and external factors.

Age is another factor in this processes and ones skin varies from age group to age group. So we put together an action plan for the different age groups on how to maintain ones skin.

40’s

Your oil production starts to plummet, which is great for those who had oily skin, but means that you have to have a great moisturizer.

Your skin also becomes fragile do to the loss of fat in your subcutaneous layers and your skin becomes thicker due to the fact that your dead skin hangs around for longer.

ACTION PLAN:

• Regular exfoliation or in house treatments like mda or skin peels.
• Avoid petroleum based products even if your skin feels better with them. Your skin only gets clogged up.
• Drink plenty of water
• As the wrinkles stat to get deeper you may want to invest in a collagen serum and maybe start Caci
• You could also start using AHA’S to help make your skin look fresher. Regim A night cream not only exfoliates at night but has AHA as well as environs alpha gel for exfoliation.

50’S:

Pigmentation cells often clump together to form brown spots (age sports), Oil shrinks even more and the skin contnuises to get thick and collagen fibrous.

ACTION PLAN:

• Take extra care
• Uses a good moistures
• If not doing non surgical or ant ageing treatment ,start its not to late to help the skin stimulate its plumpness.
Eye Health: A feast for your eyes

As you age, you may be trying to preserve your vision by protecting your eyes from the sun or by avoiding straining your eyes in dim light. You can also promote good eye health by choosing foods with nutrients that are essential for your vision. Remember that many factors influence your vision, and you should talk to your doctor or optometrist if you have concerns.

Orange Vegetables provide vitamin A, which is essential for good eye health. The Linus Pauling Institute Micronutrient Information Center states that vitamin A is part of the visual cycle that allows your brain to respond and see images when light hits your eyes. A mild vitamin A deficiency can cause night blindness, and a severe deficiency can lead to permanent blindness. Plant sources provide carotenoids such as beta-carotene, which is a molecule that your body can turn into the active form of vitamin A. Orange vegetables are especially rich in beta-carotene, and good choices include sweet potatoes, carrots and butternut squash. You can also get beta-carotene from fruit such as cantaloupe and mango, and you can get preformed vitamin A from animal products such as milk, butter and cod liver oil.

Citrus Fruits and their juices, such as oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, orange juice and grapefruit juice, promote good eye health because of their vitamin C.

The Linus Pauling Institute Micronutrient Information Center states that vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that you need for proper wound healing and cholesterol metabolism, and it is also an antioxidant vitamin. Cataracts can develop in your eyes as you age and lead to poor vision or blindness, but people who have a higher intake of vitamin C tend to have a lower risk for cataracts. Vitamin C is also in strawberries, and vegetables such as bell peppers, tomatoes and potatoes are also high in vitamin C. Other factors influence your chances of developing cataracts, so consult an expert to help you maintain healthy vision.
Nuts

Nuts provide zinc and vitamin E, two micronutrients that may promote good eye health. According to the Linus Pauling Institute Micronutrient Information Center, zinc is necessary for transporting and using vitamin A in your body to allow healthy vision. The Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health states that vitamin E is an antioxidant that may help reduce your risk of cataracts. Good nut choices include hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, cashews, pecans and walnuts. Peanuts are technically legumes, but they have similar nutrient content as nuts, so you can eat them if you prefer. Meat and beans are other sources of zinc, and you can also get vitamin E from vegetable oils such as canola or sunflower. Even though zinc and vitamin E may promote eye health, you should still consult your optometrist if you are concerned about your vision.

Your Metabolism - Truth and Myth

We hear a lot about metabolism and often blame our “slow metabolism” for our inability to keep our weight under control.

But what is metabolism, exactly? And is there anything we can do to change our metabolic rate?

Metabolism basically refers to all the chemical processes that take place in the body in order to sustain life – allowing you to breathe, pump blood, keep your brain functioning and extract energy from your food. When you hear the term metabolic rate more accurately called basal (or resting) metabolic rate that refers to the number of calories your body at rest uses each day, just to keep all your vital organs functioning. You burn additional calories through your daily activities and formal exercise, but by far, the majority of the calories that you burn each day are your basal calories.

Metabolism: Truths and Myths

Myth 1: Aging slows your metabolism.
Truth: People do tend to put on weight as they get older, but it isn’t inevitable. People have a tendency to exercise less, or less vigorously, as they age–and that means fewer calories burned per day. As activity levels and intensity go down, loss of muscle mass can occur. This then shrinks the body’s fat-free compartment and leads to a lower metabolic rate. Cardiovascular exercise will burn calories, and resistance training to preserve or build up muscle are great defenses against age-related weight gain.

Myth 2: You’re stuck with the metabolism you have, and you can’t change it.
Truth: We all seem to know people who can “eat whatever they want and never gain weight” or those who “just look at food and put on 10 pounds.” But lifestyle plays a big part in determining the calories you burn per day. While it may appear that there are people who eat all the time and never seem to gain, chances are they make healthy, relatively low-calorie selections naturally. And many of these people burn more calories through what is called Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (NEAT)–basically, they move around a lot during the day. They might fidget more, get up from their desks frequently during the day to stretch, or walk down the hall to talk to a colleague instead of emailing. Next time you’re in a public place, for example a coffeehouse, become an obwaiter. You may notice that heavier people sit very still and hardly move. Leaner people may use more hand gestures, or wiggle a foot or a crossed leg. The point is, build more muscle and then use it by moving around more throughout the day.

Myth 3: Eating a grapefruit with my meal will speed up my metabolism.
Truth: There’s nothing special about grapefruit that will speed up your metabolism. Sometimes it’s recommended that you should eat half a grapefruit with each meal for this purpose. But the reason this may work is not because of anything magical about grapefruit. It’s simply a watery, low-calorie food that takes up space in the stomach that might normally be taken up by higher-calorie foods. It may help weight loss, but it doesn’t have any effect on your metabolism.
Myth 4: If I cut calories, my metabolic rate will slow down, so what’s the point of exercising?
Truth: It is true that your metabolic rate can slow a bit when you cut calories. After all, your body’s natural inclination will be to try to conserve calories as best it can. But these decreases are relatively small, and if people become more active as they lose weight, this can offset these small changes. By dieting and exercising, you can help to preserve the rate at which your body burns calories.

POWER YOUR Metabolism WITH PROTEIN

Your muscle mass works like a furnace, burning calories and stored fat for energy. The more muscle you
have, the higher your metabolism, the faster you burn calories. Eating plenty of protein daily is essential
to maintaining your muscle mass for good health, energy and effective weight management.

Anti ageing promotion continues

Anti ageing diet.
The general guidelines for an anti ageing diet is to :
* keep your calorie consumption and saturated fat intake down;
* eat plenty of wholegrain, oily fish and fresh fruit and vegetables;
* cut down on salt and sugar.
* 95g protein a day for men and 65g protein for woman

In addition to these general guidelines, there are specific foods that have a roll in anti-aging and that you should regularly include in your diet.

Facial exercise
Facial exercises should be done once a day, and this regimen can be continued for your entire life, or you could scale down to three times a week, after completing a month of daily exercises. Some people report that minor spots or blemishes appear after starting facial exercises, and yes, it is normal. The skin is once again stimulated to produce its natural oils and lubricants and these minor spots may appear when starting facial exercises, until the skin is functioning efficiently and correctly again. Skin cells get lazy and stagnate, but with proper exercises these cells are once again activated to work with renewed vigor.

Whole meal pasta and rice:
Complex carbohydrates provide a consistent supply of energy throughout the day and should make up the bulk of your diet. Wholemeal pasta is an
excellent complex carbohydrate. It is high in fibre and contains twice the amount of iron as normal pasta. Brown rice is another recommended complex carbohydrate, which is high in fibre and B vitamins.

Watermelon:
Both the flesh and seeds of the watermelon are nutritious so try blending them together in a food processor and drinking as a juice. The flesh contain vitamin A, B and C ; the seeds contain selenium, essential fats, zinc and vitamin E, all of which help against free radical damage and aging.

Water:
Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day in order to remain healthy. Water helps us to get rid of the toxins and unwanted waste materials.

Eye exercises
# 1 Gently tone the muscles of the eyes by pressing two fingers on each side of your head, at the temples, while opening and closing your eyes rapidly. Repeat 5 times.
# 2 Sit upright with your eyes closed and relaxed. While keeping your eyes closed the whole time, first look down and then look up as far as possible. Repeat the facial exercise 10 times.
# 3 Sit upright with your eyes closed and relaxed. Keep your eyes closed while lifting your eyebrows and stretching your eyelids down as far as possible. Keep in this position for 5 counts, relax and repeat 5 times.
# 4 Sit upright with your eyes relaxed and open. Lift your eyebrows while closing your top eyelids until about halfway closed, then open your eyelids wide until the white of your eye shows over your iris.
# 5 Sit upright looking straight ahead with your eyes open. Look up then down, while keeping your head still. Repeat 10 times. Then look left and right - repeat 10 times.

Anti Ageing PROMATION

Bodytique has designed an anti ageing programme were we look at four aspects that can help with the ageing process. Theses four aspects will be in our news letters from January to end of April 2011.

The arrears which we’ll explore are :

• professional treatments
• products
• diet
• exercise for the face

A CACI non surgical face lift is an electronic beauty treatment using a CACI machine. CACI treatments lift the face by toning facial muscles, smoothing away fine lines and wrinkles and preventing sagging skin.
An overall treatment for the face and neck. This deeply relaxing treatment combines tiny electrical currents to tone the muscles of the face and to gently encourage the skin cells to function more efficiently. Following a treatment, your facial muscles will feel firmer and your skin will look glowing.

The CACI Non-Surgical Facelift treatment has been acclaimed by the international media as probably the most exciting beauty development of the last decade. It is now to be found in the world’s leading clinics, salons and health spas.

The CACI Non-Surgical Facelift treatment helps tighten and tone sagging facial muscles, while smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The treatment produces immediate and dramatic results. It works by combining a unique patented electrical waveform (Tsunami®), with the naturally occurring bio-electric current of the body, to achieve instantly visible results on sagging muscles and skin.

The CACI Non-Surgical Facelift has attracted an unrivalled celebrity following, making it the most publicised and talked about treatment in the industry’s history. CACI clients include famous faces from the world of show business, music, media and royalty.
This treatment is for people who wish to tone up their facial muscles and freshen their skin to achieve a healthy youthful glow.
Its like go to the gym, you work your muscles to give yourself a better body shape, so why not work out your face and keep that in better shape too.
The beauty of CACI is that it is actually a pleasant relaxing facial treatment which may be combined with skin products to exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin. So lay back on the couch while the CACI machine does the hard work!
Think of CACI as insurance your face, a monthly pampering treatment to keep you looking young

Anti ageing diet.
The general guidelines for an anti ageing diet is to :
* keep your calorie consumption and saturated fat intake down;
* eat plenty of wholegrain, oily fish and fresh fruit and vegetables;
* cut down on salt and sugar.
* 95g protein a day for men and 65g protein for woman

In addition to these general guidelines, there are specific foods that have a roll in anti-aging and that you should regularly include in your diet.

Avocado: is usually eaten as a vegetable, is a good source of healthy monounsaturated fat that may help to reduce level of a bad type of
cholesterol in body. Avocado is a good source of vitamin E and can help to maintain healthy skin and prevent skin aging (vitamin E may also help alleviate menopausal hot flushes). It is rich in potassium which helps prevent fluid retention and high blood pressure.

Berries:
All black and blue berries such as blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrants and black grapes contain phytochemicals known as flavonoids-powerful antioxidants which help to protect the body against damage caused by free radicals and aging.

Cruciferous vegetables:
The family of Cruciferous vegetables includes cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, turnip, brussels sprouts, radish and watercress. Cruciferous vegetables assist the body in its fight against toxins and cancer. You should try to

Neck and throat facial exercises
