What products do I use?

In our previous newsletter we explained the different skin types and how you as an individual can analys your skin.

Well depending on your skin type and problem, as well as the session, determines what products you should use.Its not as simple as walking into a shop or salon and selecting the prettiest packaging or smell. Or even the one that says it does the world for you.

Firstly your basic daily routine is to:
* cleanse (morning and evening)
* tone (morning and evening)
* moisturise (morning and evening)
* SPF (morning)

Once a week you should exfoliate and use a mask.
But what can you do to get the maxamin benefit out of this simple routine? As mentioned in identifying your skin type there are five basic types and below are some simple tips to help you get the right products. Over the next few months we’ll discuss in detail each skin type.
Oily/problem:
Cleanser: Gel cleanser to help remove excess oil from the skin
Toner: Should be alcohol free and an antiseptic. The toner helps to balance the PH of your skin.
moisturises: Should be light in texture and oil free
Exfoliate: This skin type should use a chemical exfoliate (meaning an exfoliate without granules because it is believed that granules move bacteria around the face) Normally your AHA exfoliates work well.
Mask: Should be a clay mask. Which works like a blotter in minutes and absorbs excess sebum as well as lifts dirt and impuries from the skin.
SPF: (sun block) Should be a fluid base.

Dry / sensitive skin:
Cleanser: milk or lotion cleanser, which cleans the skin without removing oil from the skin.
Toner: definitely should have no alcohol in it, as this will dry out the skin even further. The toner should have a soothing effect on the skin as well as balance the PH.
Moistures: should be heavy or rich cream, which put oil and water back into the skin.
Exfoliate: This skin type can use both a chemical exfoliate (no granules and normally tingles) or a mechanical exfoliate (granular). However a sensitive skin should be careful of chemical exfoliates as they can over stimulate the skin or cause a reaction.
Mask: should use a rich, creamy mask, which calms and regenerates. Ones mask should not make the skin feel tight on removal.
SPF: (sun block) should be a cream base.
