health and wellness - winter foot care
The feet are the most neglected parts of our body. Must of us take care of their face and eyes and hands too. But who has time for the feet? We almost forget about our feet until we have a little ach in them. However, our feet are the most vital part of our body which takes the entire weight of our body, as well as get you from A to B.
Taking care of your feet is important especially during the winter months; the feet get cracked and can be really painful. Each day, even 15 minutes of attention can be a savior for your feet. And at least once a month book a spa pedicure to relaxing and pamper your soles, as well as your feet will look divine.
Some of the tips to take care of your feet to help pamper and look after them as well as get smooth and soft feet in this winter.
• At night apply moisture and a refreshing spray
• A pretty nail polish will last longer on a buffered nail.( but don’t buff to much)
• Soak your feet in warm water with a little milk powder to help soften them
• Rub some olive oil or vitamin E oil on the nails themselves to help stimulate and increase the health of the nail
• After walking bare feet in the garden or beach soak your feet in some ti tree water or add a little to your bath.
• Sitting with your feet up for 10 minutes after a long day helps circulation
• Exercises your feet muscles by rolling a bottle of warm water under your feet.

Health and wellness news - Winter skin care
Winter weather can play havoc on the skin, especially your face. Dryness seems to be the culprit during the winter months because of the low humidity in the air and lower humidity in your home. Additionally the sebaceous glands produce less oil in cold weather adding insult to injury. We are also tempted to take advantage of these months as it’s an ideal excuse to indulge in some extreme pampering. But those long hot showers or baths just adds to the drying out the skin by stripping away its natural oils.
So now what, no more indulge pampering? No not at all one must just take care to be a little more creative and follow a few guide lines to stop this from happening. So how do we keep your skin looking beautiful this winter?
1. One needs to look at your moisturizes – you might have to move to a more hydrating cream or invest in a spray bottle that you can sprit your face throughout the day – best to add rose water or apple water.
2. drink lots of water or herbal tea
3. if your going to indulge a little in the bath or shower one can do the following :
- add a little coconut oil to the face before bathing to help
heal dryness and chaps.
Or
- one could apply a moisturising mask while you soak
( here’s a D.I.Y mask )
Avocado Mask
1/2 ripe avocado
1 teaspoon vegetable oil or olive oil
Mash avocado into a paste and add vegetable oil. Apply to clean skin. Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water
4. Add a few drops of bath time oil or milky baths to the water that you are using to bath. This will help retain the moisture lost when bathing. Avoid using very hot water during winter as it can decrease the natural oils of your skin. Instead shorten your bath time.
(Hamlet and Meadow’s has a great winter hydrate soak –R 5 a scoop)
