Sports therapy- Comrades tips: Water is not enough for long runs

Water is not enough for long runs
1) Your body looses salt, electrolytes and minerals which have to be replenished. Buy sports drink for that matter.

2) Do not, I repeat, do not drink magnesium drinks! If you want you can have magnesium drinks, tablets AFTER your run. During exercise it will only lead to diarrhoea.

3) Gels during the water consumption must be right. Two much water result in a hypotonic –few carb's to your legs. Too little result in diarrhoea and using a sports drink …find a portaloo.

4) Remember never to mix sports drink with water, a practice which will increase your chances of avoiding GI upsets and delivering enough carbohydrate to your muscles

Sports therapy - special edition - INJURIES

The best thing for injuries is REST, and knowing when not to push your body any more.

However if you do get injured the following will help you get back on your feet.

THE FIRST 24 HOURS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT!

R EST
Stay off your feet as much as possible
I CE
The area that is inflamed or painful, this will
Help heal the injuries, however to much can
Make it worse.
5min – small area
10min – large area.
C OMPRESS
To strap the area, to help support the body to heal

E LEVATE
Lift area up.

IF AREA STAYS SWOLLEN OR VERY PAINFUL AFTER A GOOD RICE METHOD, CONTACT A GP OR SPORTS THERAPIST.

Getting a better shave.

First is first deciding which method to use:

· electrical razor
Easier, yet not a close shave. How ever is good to alternate then. If you’re going to use this method than use a shaving oil to provide a smoother gliding surface.
· wet method
Is the most skin friendly method. different shaving products:
* OIL: For all one can apply it under any of the below products, to get an even better shave. Oils are great for dry skins and great for thick, heavy growth, due to it softening the hair. The only problem is that the oil cogs the blades thus one needs to rinse it more often.
* CREAM: Is for dry or sensitive skin, due to a moisture barrier that forms on the skin to help prevent dryness and also helps you against nicks and irritations.
* FOAM: good for oily skins, due to the drying effect on the skin.
*GEL: Good for oily and sensitive skins.
Before shaving look at the direction of the growth of the hair as it is better to shave with the grain. Its best to do a rough stretch of your face and the directions on the areas shaved.
· Chance your blades regularly, the heavier your bead the more frequently you need to chance the blade.
· Best time to shave is 20-30min after waking up, due to the skin being at its most relaxed state.
· Use Luke warm water
· Exfoliate the night before you shave as this lifts up the hairs lying flat on your skin.
· Moisturizes after wards and every other day.

THERMO ACTIVE FACIAL

If you haven’t experienced Acadiemie's Thermo active mask now is the ideal time, with the damage and the dryness of winter, we all need added warmth and improved circulation. What better way to get it than with a self-heating mineral mask?
This unusual clay based mask is applied over an ample and nourishing massages cream. Its heating and setting action ensures maximum penetration of the active ingredients and has a wonderful stimulating effect on the skins circulation. The comfortable warmth feels heavenly and it’s the perfect way to get your skin warmed up and glowing.
